School-To-Club-Links

Greater Sport's: - School-To-Club Links Initiative

This is an initiative run in cooperation between Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council & GreaterSport.

The schools that have completed their registration forms through BMBC Sports Development so far are: Harper Green, Firwood, St James Sports College, SS Osmunds & St Andrews & St Michaels.

Through this initiative, these schools have displayed a positive attitude to sport in school, out-of-school and by forming a working partnership with BISC Coach and the club. We are allowed to offer these schools our services and we are viewed with approval to promote any positive activity at the school that involves BISC. It is hoped that if schools can get these forms filled in and posted/e-mailed to BISC in time, that over 20 community schools will be registered under this scheme. A scheme that lets schools & parents know that their children can get actively involved in sport and become a member of a club in their own community.

"Fifteen-15” Initiative."

Funded through Extended Services, this initiative is a perfect opportunity for 15 schools in Farnworth to get access to Sport through their local community sports club, BISC and its various facilities.

Schools listed for this initiative:- All Saints, Cheery Tree, Highfield, Kearsley West, Our Lady Of Lourdes, Plodder Lane, Queensbridge, St Gregory’s, St James (Farnworth) St John’s Kearsley, St Peter’s, Senior Schools: Harper Green, Mount St Joseph’s, St James’s & Greenfold School.

Details: Each school puts forward 26 children. (2 Age groups of 13 children).

Ideally: Junior Schools: 13 of Year 5 (9-10’s) 13 of Year 6’s (10-11’s).

Senior Schools: 13 of Year 7 (11’s-12’s)

All these age groups will feed into our Activ-Sport Playschemes &/or our new sports teams.

Year 11’s (15’s-16’s): These children will be able to fit into the above and/or, if they want to look to doing sports coaching/organizing/administrating as a profession/volunteer, make themselves available to help supervise/coach younger children in sport &/or activities (similar to Junior Sports Leaders).

NB: All ages to be discussed with representatives of schools involved.

“Little Lever/ Kearsley Schools Enrolment.”

Plans are afoot to get these schools access to BISC through a series of sports activities/events at BISC. Details later next month.

Any schools/colleges/universities interested in getting involved in sport initiatives contact BISC.
